Although this might as well be Infernal Affairs 1.5, it's still a captivating film, drenched with masterful filmmaking techniques. But will a third look-alike ruin their plan? Outside of these two the rest of the cast are pretty good. This one was obviously the worst one in this trilogy. Tying up the loose ends of the series, the film isn't tense enough or emotionally impacting enough to be worth a look unless you are really already into the characters but it is an interesting way to bring things to an end - with restraint and tragedy rather than excess. One half of the movie follows Andy Lau 10 months after the original film and the other follows Tony Leung in the month leading up to the first film. |. As with the other 2 films it is all competently put together, so while it might not be the satisfying finale I had hoped for this is still a really strong trilogy overall. Where Scorsese's recent version of Infernal Affairs all the loose ends pretty much got tied up during the film whereas with the original we were left with an open (but much more emotionally impacting) conclusion. Just as many Hong Kong movies fall apart in the third act, so the Infernal Affairs trilogy goes seriously awry in its concluding leg. The only performances I liked was from Tony Leung, the beautiful Kelly Chen and the winner would probably Andy Lau. His performance was great because in this film his character was a bit more different due to some mental problems.

When Margaret's Christmas coronation complicates her love life, her double Stacy steps in to save the day. As a viewer theres a sense they had too much material for two films but not enough for a fully fledged third and as a result we get an unbalanced film that was slightly hard to follow with a much slower pace. Its not completely without merit as a entertaining addition to the thrilling crime saga but it suffers as the weaker installment. Infernal Affairs III picks up where the first film left off. Add on top of that that it's the first film in the series to take a turn to the cerebral as the sanity of one of the main characters comes into question. Forgot your password?
