Malorie Blackman delivers yet another powerful story about racial issues. If you read the other books than you may like this and understand what the Noughts and Crosses are. ‘Nought Forever’ tells the story of Dan and Eva (neither of whom we have met before in previous Noughts and Crosses instalments) and how their troubled paths cross.

I did find this short story however from the series and fancied giving it a try. Just a moment while we sign you in to your Goodreads account. I have to say I’d recommend reading all the books in the series, I’ll have to see if I can get hold of book four, and then read book five, Crossfire when it is published in the summer. But for some reason I never got to number 4, Double Cross. Nought Forever follows Dan who is on the run and ends up being attacked, collapsing in the lawn of Eva's house and she drags him in and debates whether to hide him and lie to authorities or betray his arrival. Her work has been adapted for TV and stage. A short story from the Nougths and Crosses series, feautring Dan who works for the notorious McCauley. It's dark but I keep seeing white flashes before my eyes like spots of lightning jabbing at me.

As I say, it isn’t really a great book if you haven’t read anything in the series, but it does give you an indication of Blackman’s style and it is enough to keep your interest. Personally I've never read noughts and crosses (hopefully getting to this soon) so I was very lost and didn't know what noughts and crosses were.

You get the idea behind the alternative British society pretty quickly and know who the Noughts and the Crosses are, societally speaking. Noughts & Crosses was the very first series I became obsessed with as a kid. An award-winning children's author, Malorie Blackman was honoured with an OBE in 2008. At the time, the story-line was very dark and brutal at points which didn't sit well with me. It's one of those nights. After that ending, I need Crossfire now!

It may be good for people who have read the rest of the series but, for someone who hasn't, it is frustrating.

I think if I did then this book would mean a lot more to me because I’m pretty sure it is almost a deleted scene from that book. This is Book 7 in the Noughts and Crosses Series. I've read other World Book Day books before and they can be a good way of getting into a new series but this was the opposite.

I did not care for this book or any of the characters. Set in a dangerous, alternate world where racism divides society, Noughts + Crosses follows two young people Sephy and Callum, who are divided by their colour but united by love. This book really left me wanting more. Both have reasons to fear the other. Noughts and Crosses has been on my reading list for a long time, so when I got a book token I thought I'd get this short story and dip my toe into this world. It got me back in the mindset of noughts and crosses and I am so excited for the next book in this fantastic series! Welcome back.

It was a good book because the story of how a noughts boy meets a mother of a crosses girl who died was very interesting. The exciting yet relatable plots that feature in many of her books have millions of readers of all ages hooked on her stories.

He is a member of a terrorist organisation she doesn’t approve of, and yet as a mother she cannot leave Dan alone and without help. #EndSARS. But they are both connected to each other too, and before the night is over, Eva will be forced to choose: betray Dan, or protect him - whatever the cost.
